Employer Brokers ensure that Employment Services have a strong focus on matching the needs of job seekers with the labour requirements of employers.
Employer Brokers are funded by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations’ (DEEWR) Employment Services. It commenced on 1 July 2009 and ends on 30 June 2012.
The objective of the Employer Broker role is to engage with employers in a skill or labour shortage industry, or a specific location, to broker solutions that meet employers’ needs and to co-ordinate and target the efforts of Employment Services Providers to matching the needs of job seekers with the labour requirements of employers.
Delfin Lend Lease was successful in nominating to be a member of the Employer Broker Panel and subsequently, in conjunction with Northern Futures, developed the Build ‘Em Up project to address the workforce needs of construction related industries in the Northern Adelaide region.
The Build ‘Em Up project will attempt to:
- build relationships for Job Service Australia (JSA) providers to access the building and construction industry;
- develop linkages for Registered Training Organisations (RTO's) to the building and construction industry;
- assist employers in the building and construction industry to source trained employees;
- link individuals seeking employment in the building and construction industries with appropriate training and other support services;
- develop career pathways that assist employers to attract and retain an appropriately skilled workforce and;
- establish a database to support JSA providers, RTO's and other regional service providers to link clients with employment opportunities in the building and construction industry.
The Build 'Em Up Employer Broker is employed by Northern Futures and works collaboratively with Delfin Lend Lease, Employers, Industry Organisations, JSA providers, RTO's, South Australia Works in the Regions programs and Northern Futures (including the Career and Workforce Development Centre), to provide linkages to employment opportunities for unemployed persons seeking employment in the building and construction industry.
The links with industry, service providers, training organisations and suppport services provide the underlying strength of the Build 'Em Up project.
